Rainer Hosch is a photographer based in Los Angeles. His father, a fearless photojournalist whose assignments took him around the world, was Hosch’s first teacher. After his sudden death when Hosch was only 11 years old, he committed to carrying on his father’s legacy by pursuing photography. He started his career documenting the music scene of his hometown of Vienna. In 1998, he moved to New York City, where he soon worked for magazines such as Esquire, L’Uomo Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, and Wired, as well as commercial clients ranging from Nespresso to Sony Music. Hosch has captured some of the most iconic faces in art, design, technology, sports, politics, and business. In addition to his portrait work, Hosch is a street, landscape, and documentary photographer. His work can be found in the Permanent Collection National Museum of Photography in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the New York headquarters of Roc Nation. He has had exhibitions in Miami, New York, Austria, Copenhagen, and the Dean Collection in Los Angeles.

In 2022, Hosch created the Genesis NFT collection “52icons,” dedicated to his late father, Heinz Hosch. The collection was dropped via Twitter and connects with a growing global community of over 2000 collectors. The overwhelming popularity of his Iggy Pop portraits inspired an Open Edition NFT minted 3537 times in 52 hours. While Hosch’s career is rooted in analog, he believes in the future of digital art.
